Presenters: Heather Hubbard (Colorado Parks and Wildlife) and Maya Garcia (Colorado Department of Education
Description: Join Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Colorado Department of Education to learn how
you can use locally available phenomena, such as droughts and drought modeling tools, to
engage students in making sense of phenomena in their local community. During the workshop,
we will unpack CAS Science aligned instructional practices, and engage with the Colorado
Essential Skills and Science and Engineering Practices. We will discuss media resources, and
authentic data sets, and model the selection of locally relevant phenomena.
